Swimming through the reef I go,

current strong and at my tail.

Sand is soft and white as snow.

Stalking my prey’s distinct trail.

A shiny thing, I see it glimmer,

Catches my attention fast.

Swim through all the icy winter,

For a closer glimpse to catch.

It dances, dangles, light reflecting,

slim and shapely, what a sight.

Dangerous curves, was not expecting,

To see beauty here tonight.

At first I’m coy, despite my size,

You call me closer twirling fine.

I take a nibble, claim my prize,

I’m hooked, we both are intertwined.

Your hooks are thin,

I do not struggle.

You reel me in,

My heartbeat doubles.

To the surface I submit,

The air is fresh over my scales.

Sunlight warm, just like a kiss

Into your net, my body sails.
